Kayak is one of the oldest existing prog rock bands of The Netherlands (39 years in 2011, with a "short" break of 17 years in between). They are still Alive and Kicking. From 2000 on they frequently release albums of above high quality. Their biggest hit is still Ruthless Queen but all their albums are a piece of art. The year 2010 was a difficult one, the sudden death of Pim Koopman (Drums) was felt as a huge loss. December 2010 they decided to continue.
New drummer is Hans Eijkenaar, a favourite of Pim Koopman
Cindy Oudshoorn joined Kayak in 2002 with a guest role as Morgan LeFay in the Kayak rockopera Merlin. Kayak did realise soon that Cindy was a perfect addition to the band.
Nowadays she is an important part of the vocal front of Kayak. (With Edward Reekers and Rob Vunderink).
This Friday we talk with Cindy about the current release of the DVD Pim Koopman Tribute, the upcoming new album Anywhere but here and the new tour 2011. Cindy has also a part in worldpeaceispossible.
It is a more or less Kayak and related artists show today:
Amongst others:
Kayak, Solo stuff from Cindy Oudshoorn, Edward Reekers, Ton Scherpenzeel, Joost Vergoossen,
Diesel and Pim Koopman produced artists, Camel, Michael Robinson, Maywood.
Tracks from the Pim Koopman Tribute DVD.
